Outstanding Researchers at ICONZ 8: Best Paper Announced
Jakarta, December 3, 2024 – The 8th International Conference on Zakat (ICONZ) was successfully held, showcasing various innovative studies in zakat management. During the event, the organizing committee announced the Best Paper winners who have made exceptional contributions to zakat research.
1st Place was awarded to Eka Sri Wahyuni, Yosy Arisandy, and Nilda Susilawati, representing Fatmawati Sukarno State Islamic University, Bengkulu, and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Johor. Their paper, titled Design Model for Productive Zakat Program BAZNAS Based on Regional Potential Using Participation Action Research (PAR) and Geographic Information System (GIS), presents an innovative design model for productive zakat programs based on regional potential using the PAR method and GIS technology.
2nd Place was won by Nur Aziz from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, with a paper titled Enhancing Professionalism in Zakat Management Through Islamic Competency-Based Human Resource Management: A Literature Review of Key Competencies for Amil Zakat. This research explores the significance of Islamic competency-based human resource management in enhancing professionalism in zakat management.
Meanwhile, 3rd Place was awarded to Dodik Siswantoro and Mariati Aprilia Harahap, representing University of Indonesia and Indonesian International Islamic University. Their paper, titled Should Perform a Pilgrimage (Hajj) without Paying Zakat? Proposing an Integrating System between Zakat and Hajj, proposes an integrated system between zakat and hajj as an innovative solution for managing Islamic worship.
These awards recognize and appreciate research that contributes to the development of a more effective and efficient zakat system. With these new findings, it is hoped that zakat management in various countries will continue to evolve and provide broader benefits to society.
