Jakarta, 5 Februari 2026 -The Vice Chairman of BAZNAS RI, H. Mokhammad Mahdum, Ph.D., attended a series of events marking the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BAZNAS RI and the National Cooperative Movement of Malaysia (Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia/ANGKASA), which was held in conjunction with the handover of infaq funds from mosque cooperatives. The event took place at the 5th Floor Hall Meeting Room on Thursday (February 5, 2026).
ANGKASA is the official body representing the cooperative movement in Malaysia at both national and international levels. This collaboration serves as a strategic milestone in strengthening institutional relations between Indonesia and Malaysia, particularly in enhancing the role of mosque cooperatives as partners in the management and strengthening of the zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (ZIS) ecosystem.
The signing of the MoU between BAZNAS RI and ANGKASA specifically focuses on the development and strengthening of Mosque Sharia Cooperatives (Koperasi Kariah Masjid/KKM). Through this agreement, both parties are committed to optimizing cooperation in the management, collection, and governance of mosque- and cooperative-based ZIS to ensure it is more professional, transparent, and impactful for the community.
In addition to the MoU signing, the event was also marked by the handover of infaq funds to five mosques, with a total value of USD 15,000. The funds were handed over in cash as a tangible form of ANGKASA’s support in strengthening the role of mosques as centers of community empowerment and as strategic hubs for the collection and distribution of ZIS.
Through this collaboration, mosques are expected to function not only as centers of worship, but also as hubs for social, economic, and community empowerment activities through sustainable sharia-based cooperative development. The synergy between BAZNAS RI and ANGKASA is also expected to enhance public literacy and participation in fulfilling zakat, infaq, and sadaqah obligations through credible and trusted institutions.
As a follow-up to this collaboration, ANGKASA is scheduled to visit one of the recipient mosques to directly observe the utilization of the infaq funds that have been disbursed. This visit aims to strengthen public trust and encourage greater community participation in ZIS collection. The name of the mosque to be visited will be determined following further confirmation.
Also in attendance from BAZNAS RI were the Chairman for Collection Affairs, Dr. H. Rizaludin Kurniawan, S.Ag., M.Si., CFRM; the Chairman for National Coordination Affairs, KH.
