Jakarta, 8 October 2026 - The National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) RI has mapped the potential of agricultural zakat payers (muzaki) at the village level across 38 provinces in Indonesia. The study identified an estimated agricultural zakat potential of IDR 13.52 trillion, involving 24,135,248 potential muzaki across 84,740 villages and urban wards. The findings were presented in the book Mapping the Potential of Agricultural Zakat Payers in Villages Across 38 Provinces, officially launched during the National Seminar titled "Agricultural Zakat for Village Prosperity." The event was organized by the Directorate of Research, Studies, and Development of BAZNAS RI at the BAZNAS RI Building in Jakarta on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Vice Chairman of BAZNAS RI, Dr. H. Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi, M.Si., emphasized that the study reflects BAZNAS' commitment to strengthening data-driven and research-based zakat governance while promoting a more structured and measurable approach to agricultural zakat management. He further highlighted BAZNAS' efforts to strengthen Zakat Collection Units (UPZ) at the village level as part of the broader transformation of zakat management and rural economic development. He cited Jatisono Village in Demak Regency, Central Java, as an example of how an agriculture-based UPZ can help strengthen local economic self-reliance.

BAZNAS RI also plans to enhance collaboration with Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions to optimize the utilization of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah for community empowerment and sustainable rural development. The event was also attended by Dr. Ahmad Hambali, S.Ag., M.H., Director of Planning and Innovation of BAZNAS RI; Eka Budhi Sulistyo, S.Pt., M.A.P., Director of Zakat Utilization of BAZNAS RI; Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D., Director of National ZIS-DSKL Research and Development of BAZNAS RI; Abdul Aziz Yahya Saoqi, M.Sc., Head of the Muzaki Research, Studies, and Development Division of BAZNAS RI; Suherman, S.IP., M.Si., Director of Technical Planning for Village and Rural Development at the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions; and M. Habibullah, Deputy for Production Statistics at Statistics Indonesia (BPS).
