Wednesday (26/7). BAZNAS collaborate Indonesia Philanthropy Association to initiate the formulation of Fiqh Zakat on SDGs. This fiqih will be a clear theological legitimation of raising, managing and utilizing zakat to support programs related to SDGs.

Inputs and suggestions from scholars, academics, activists of zakat and philanthropy in the formulation of SDG’s Fiqh is one of the objective of this event. Featured from four speakers, KH Masdar Farid Masudi (Member of BAZNAS), Prof. Dr. Hasanuddin Abdul Fatah (Chairman of the MUI Fatwa Committee), etc.

BAZNAS Member KH. Masdar Farid Masudi said BAZNAS believes the role of zakat becomes strategic in encouraging the implementation of SDGs in various parts of the world, especially the Islamic world. From the 17 points of the SDGs, the zakat movement focuses on 11 issues: poverty eradication, hunger eradication, health improvement, decent education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, energy, economic growth, reducing inequalities, climate change , and partnerships.
